Method

Cooking the Pasta

  1. 1

    Step 1: Boil Water

In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil over high heat.

  2. 2

    Step 2: Cook Macaroni

Add the macaroni to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions until al dente, about 7-8 minutes. Drain and set aside.

Making the Cheese Sauce

  1. 3

    Step 3: Melt Butter

In the same pot, melt the butter over medium heat.

  2. 4

    Step 4: Make Roux

Once melted, whisk in the flour and cook for about 1 minute, stirring constantly to form a roux.

  3. 5

    Step 5: Add Milk

Gradually whisk in the milk, ensuring there are no lumps, and bring to a simmer. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until the sauce thickens.

  4. 6

Step 6: Add Cheese and Seasonings

Stir in the cheddar cheese, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Continue stirring until the cheese melts and the sauce is smooth.

Combining and Baking

  1. 7

Step 7: Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce and stir until well combined.

  2. 8

    Step 8: Prepare for Baking

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Transfer the macaroni and cheese mixture to a greased baking dish.

  3. 9

    Step 9: Add Toppings (Optional)

If desired, sprinkle breadcrumbs and Parmesan cheese on top for added crunch.

  4. 10

    Step 10: Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until bubbly and golden on top. Optionally, garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.
