Base

Ghostly Swirl

Method

Base Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat and Prepare

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the whole milk, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and eggs until smooth.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix.

  5. 5

    Pour Batter

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it out evenly.

Ghostly Swirl Preparation

  1. 6

    Prepare Cocoa Mixture

In a separate bowl, mix the cocoa powder, powdered sugar, milk, and black food coloring until smooth and well combined.

  2. 7

    Create Swirl Effect

Drop spoonfuls of the cocoa mixture onto the batter in the baking pan. Use a knife or skewer to swirl the cocoa mixture gently into the batter, creating a ghostly pattern.

Baking and Garnishing

  1. 8

    Bake

Place the baking pan in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  2. 9

    Cool

Once baked, remove from the oven and allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

  3. 10

    Garnish

Once cooled, cut into squares and top each piece with ghost-shaped sprinkles for a festive touch.
