Bread and Cheese

Butter and Seasoning

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Slice the Boudin

Remove the casing from the boudin sausage and slice it into thin rounds, approximately 0.5 cm thick.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Bread

Lay out the slices of sourdough bread on a clean surface. Place a slice of sharp cheddar cheese on two of the bread slices.

  3. 3

    Add the Boudin

Evenly distribute the sliced boudin on top of the cheddar cheese on the bread slices.

  4. 4

    Top with More Cheese

Place another slice of sharp cheddar cheese on top of the boudin, and then cover with the remaining slices of sourdough bread to form two sandwiches.

Cooking

  1. 5

    Butter the Bread

Spread one tablespoon of unsalted butter on the outer side of each sandwich.

  2. 6

    Heat the Pan

In a skillet or frying pan, heat over medium heat. Once hot, place the sandwiches butter-side down in the pan.

  3. 7

    Grill the Sandwiches

Cook each side for about 3-4 minutes, or until golden brown and the cheese has melted. If needed, lower the heat to ensure the bread doesn't burn.

  4. 8

    Season the Sandwiches

While grilling, sprinkle the garlic powder and black pepper on the exposed sides of the sandwiches for added flavor.

  5. 9

    Serve

Once both sides are golden brown and the cheese is melted, remove the sandwiches from the pan. Let them cool for a minute before slicing them into triangles. Serve warm.
