Mojito Ingredients

Method

Mojito Preparation

  1. 1

    Muddle the Mint and Sugar

In a sturdy glass or cocktail shaker, add the fresh mint leaves and granulated sugar. Using a muddler or the back of a spoon, gently crush the mint leaves to release their essential oils, mixing them with the sugar. Do this for about 10-15 seconds.

  2. 2

    Add Lime Juice

Cut the lime in half. Squeeze the juice of half the lime into the glass with the muddled mint and sugar. If desired, you can also add a few lime wedges to the glass for extra flavor.

  3. 3

    Pour in the Rum

Measure 2 oz of white rum and pour it into the glass over the muddled mixture.

  4. 4

    Add Ice

Fill the glass with ice cubes, almost to the top.

  5. 5

    Top with Soda Water

Pour 4 oz of soda water over the ice and rum mixture, filling the glass to the brim.

  6. 6

    Garnish and Serve

Gently stir the mixture with a spoon to combine the ingredients. Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint and a lime wedge on the rim of the glass. Serve immediately.
