Method
Salad Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Chard
Wash the rainbow Swiss chard thoroughly under running water. Remove the tough stems and chop the leaves into bite-sized pieces.
- 2
Prepare the Apples
Core and slice the local apples into thin wedges. You can leave the skin on for added texture and color.
- 3
Toast the Walnuts
In a dry skillet over medium heat, add the walnuts and toast them for about 5 minutes, stirring frequently until they are golden and fragrant. Remove from heat and let cool.
- 4
Make the Dressing
In a small bowl, whisk together the grain mustard, olive oil, honey, salt, and black pepper until combined.
- 5
Assemble the Salad
In a large bowl, combine the chopped Swiss chard, apple slices, and toasted walnuts. Drizzle the dressing over the salad and toss gently to combine.
- 6
Serve
Serve immediately as a fresh, vibrant salad or let it sit for about 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld before serving.
