Preparation Steps
- 1
Prepare the Potatoes
Wash and peel the Russet potatoes. Cut them into thin strips (about 1/4 inch thick) to resemble traditional French fries.
- 2
- 3
Dry the Potatoes
After soaking, drain the potatoes and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towels to remove any excess moisture.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). You can use a thermometer to check the temperature.
- 5
Fry the Potatoes
Carefully add a handful of the dried potato strips to the hot oil. Fry them in batches for about 4-5 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy. Avoid overcrowding the pot.
- 6
Drain and Season
Once the fries are done, remove them from the oil using a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Immediately sprinkle with salt and black pepper while hot.
- 7
Serve
Serve the French fries hot as a side dish or snack. Enjoy!
