Ingredients
Beef
Marinade
Side Dish
Prepare the Marinade
1. Make the Marinade
In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, minced garlic, fresh rosemary, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
2. Marinate the Steak
Place the porterhouse steak in a large resealable plastic bag or shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the steak, ensuring it is well coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or preferably overnight for better flavor.
Cook the Steak
3. Prepare the Grill or Pan
Preheat your grill to high heat or place a heavy skillet over medium-high heat on the stove.
4. Cook the Steak
Remove the steak from the marinade and allow excess marinade to drip off. Place it on the grill or in the skillet. Cook for approximately 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or longer if desired for your preferred doneness.
5. Rest the Steak
Once cooked, remove the steak from heat and let it rest for at least 10 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute.
Prepare Garlic Mashed Potatoes
6. Boil the Potatoes
In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the peeled and diced potatoes and cook until tender, about 15-20 minutes.
7. Mash the Potatoes
Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add butter, milk, salt, and black pepper. Use a potato masher or fork to mash until smooth and creamy.
