Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 2

    Prepare the Bread

Spread butter evenly on both sides of each slice of white bread. Cut the bread into triangles.

  3. 3

    Arrange the Bread

Layer half of the buttered bread slices in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Sprinkle half of the raisins over the bread.

  4. 4

    Add Second Layer

Add the remaining buttered bread slices on top, followed by the rest of the raisins.

Custard Mixture

  1. 5

    Combine Custard Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the milk, heavy cream, eggs, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and brandy until well combined.

  2. 6

    Pour Custard Over Bread

Pour the custard mixture evenly over the layered bread in the baking dish, ensuring all the bread is soaked.

  3. 7

    Let It Soak

Allow the bread to soak in the custard for about 10 minutes.

Baking

  1. 8

    Bake the Pudding

Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the custard is set.

  2. 9

    Cool and Serve

Remove the bread and butter pudding from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Serve warm, optionally with a drizzle of cream or a scoop of ice cream.
