Burger Patties

Caramelized Onions

Toppings

Method

Burger Patties

  1. 1

    Prepare the Patties

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently to combine without overworking the meat.

  2. 2

    Shape the Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty that is slightly larger than your burger buns.

Caramelized Onions

  1. 3

    Slice the Onions

Thinly slice the medium onions and set aside.

  2. 4

    Caramelize the Onions

In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the sliced onions and cook, stirring frequently, until they are soft and golden brown, about 15-20 minutes.

  3. 5

    Add Vermouth

Once the onions are caramelized, pour in the vermouth and cook for an additional 5 minutes until the liquid has mostly evaporated. Remove from heat.

Cooking the Burgers

  1. 6

    Cook the Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook each patty for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and place a slice of cheddar cheese on top. Cook for another 4-5 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the burgers are cooked to your desired doneness.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 7

    Toast the Buns

Toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden.

  2. 8

    Layer the Ingredients

On the bottom half of each bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by a burger patty with melted cheese, a few slices of caramelized onions, tomato slices, and pickles. Top with the other half of the bun.
