Method

Prepare the Steak

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Pat the top sirloin steak dry with paper towels. Season both sides generously with salt and black pepper.

  2. 2

    Heat the Grill

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Brush the grill grates with olive oil to prevent sticking.

  3. 3

    Grill the Steak

Place the seasoned steak on the grill. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness. Remove from the grill and let rest for 5 minutes.

Make Onion Rings

  1. 4

    Prepare the Onion

Slice the large onion into 1/2 inch thick rings, separating the rings.

  2. 5

    Make the Batter

In a bowl, mix together the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Gradually whisk in the cold water until the batter is smooth.

  3. 6

    Heat the Oil

In a deep skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  4. 7

    Fry the Onion Rings

Dip each onion ring into the batter, allowing excess to drip off. Carefully place them in the hot oil. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Sauté Mushrooms and Onions

  1. 8

    Cook the Vegetables

In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add sliced mushrooms, chopped onion, and minced garlic. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender.

  2. 9

    Season the Mixture

Add salt and black pepper to the sautéed mushrooms and onions. Stir well to combine and cook for an additional 2 minutes.

Assemble the Dish

  1. 10

    Plate the Dish

On a serving plate, create a bed of sautéed mushrooms and onions. Place the grilled steak on top and garnish with two large onion rings.

  2. 11

    Serve

Serve immediately while hot and enjoy your delicious top sirloin steak!
