Method

Prepare the Turkey Filling

  1. 1

    Mix Turkey Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, smoked paprika, and salt. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.

  2. 2

    Shape Turkey Mixture

Using your hands, shape the turkey mixture into small sausage-like shapes, about 2 inches long. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Make the Batter

  1. 3

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cornmeal, baking powder, salt, and sugar until well combined.

  2. 4

    Add Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and vegetable oil. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.

Fry the Corn Dogs

  1. 5

    Heat Oil

In a deep pot or fryer, heat 4 cups of vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 6

    Coat Turkey with Batter

Once the oil is hot, dip each turkey sausage into the batter, ensuring it is well coated.

  3. 7

    Fry Corn Dogs

Carefully place the coated turkey sausages in the hot oil. Fry in batches for about 3-4 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

Serve

  1. 8

    Serve Warm

Serve the mini turkey corn dogs warm with ketchup and mustard on the side for dipping.
