Mushrooms

Method

Mushroom Preparation

  1. 1

    Clean the Mushrooms

Gently clean the fresh select mushrooms using a damp cloth or paper towel to remove any dirt. Avoid soaking them in water to maintain their texture.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Battering Station

In a medium bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk until well blended.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a deep pot or fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer for accuracy.

  4. 4

    Batter the Mushrooms

Dip each cleaned mushroom first into the flour mixture, then into the egg mixture, and finally back into the flour mixture, ensuring they are fully coated.

  5. 5

    Fry the Mushrooms

Carefully place the battered mushrooms into the hot oil, a few at a time, and fry for about 3-4 minutes or until they turn golden brown. Avoid overcrowding the pot.

  6. 6

    Drain and Serve

Remove the fried mushrooms with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot.

Ranch Dressing Preparation

  1. 7

    Combine Ingredients

In a medium bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, sour cream, dried dill, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, chopped parsley, and lemon juice.

  2. 8

    Whisk Until Smooth

Whisk all the ingredients together until the ranch dressing is smooth and well combined.

  3. 9

    Chill Before Serving

Refrigerate the ranch dressing for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
