Base Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, beat the eggs and then add in the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Whisk until combined.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix.

  5. 5

    Bake

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  6. 6

    Cool

Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Frosting Preparation

  1. 7

    Make Frosting

In a mixing bowl, beat the unsalted butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar and cocoa powder, mixing well.

  2. 8

    Add Cream and Vanilla

Add heavy cream and vanilla extract to the butter-sugar mixture, and beat until fluffy and smooth.

  3. 9

    Frost Cake

Once the cake is completely cool, spread the frosting evenly over the top using a spatula.
