Method
Cornbread
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to ensure it is hot when the cornbread is placed inside.
- 2
Prepare the Skillet
Place a 10-inch cast iron skillet in the oven while it preheats. This will help create a crispy crust on the cornbread.
- 3
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine cornmeal, all-purpose flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. Whisk together until well blended.
- 4
- 5
Combine Mixtures
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Stir gently until just combined. Do not overmix.
- 6
Add Cheese and Chipotle
Fold in the shredded cheddar cheese and minced chipotle peppers until evenly distributed.
- 7
Transfer to Skillet
Carefully remove the hot skillet from the oven and pour the cornbread batter into it. Spread it evenly.
- 8
Bake
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- 9
Cool
Once baked, remove from the oven and let the cornbread cool in the skillet for about 10 minutes before serving.
Honey Butter
- 10
Prepare Honey Butter
In a small bowl, combine softened butter and honey. Mix well until smooth and creamy. Adjust sweetness to taste.
