Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.

  2. 2

    Melt the Butter

In a medium saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over low heat. Once melted, remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.

Mixing the Ingredients

  1. 3

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, unsweetened cocoa powder, granulated sugar, salt, and baking powder until well combined.

  2. 4

    Mix Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, beat the eggs. Add the melted butter and vanilla extract, and mix until well combined.

  3. 5

    Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.

  4. 6

    Add Optional Ingredients

If using, fold in chocolate chips and chopped nuts until evenly distributed.

Baking

  1. 7

    Pour and Bake

Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

  2. 8

    Cool and Cut

Once baked, remove from the oven and let the brownies cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes. Cut into squares and serve.
