Burger Patties

Chili Topping

Method

Prepare the Burger Patties

  1. 1

    Mix the Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently until all ingredients are well incorporated.

  2. 2

    Shape the Patties

Divide the beef mixture into two equal portions and shape each into a patty, about ¾ inch thick.

  3. 3

    Cook the Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.

  4. 4

    Toast the Buns

While the patties are cooking, toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until they are golden brown.

Prepare the Chili Topping

  1. 5

    Heat the Chili

In a small saucepan, heat the canned chili over medium heat until it is warmed through, stirring occasionally.

  2. 6

    Melt the Cheese

Once the burgers are cooked, place a generous amount of cheddar cheese on top of each patty and cover with a lid. Allow the cheese to melt for about 1-2 minutes.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 7

    Build the Burger

Place each burger patty on the bottom half of a toasted bun. Spoon a generous amount of heated chili over each patty.

  2. 8

    Add Toppings

Top the chili with a dollop of sour cream and a sprinkle of chopped green onions, if desired. Place the top half of the bun on each burger.
