Method
Fried Chicken
- 1
Marinate the Chicken
In a large bowl, combine the chicken pieces and buttermilk. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours or overnight.
- 2
Prepare the Coating
In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, cayenne pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
- 3
Coat the Chicken
Remove the chicken from the buttermilk and allow excess to drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture until fully coated.
- 4
Fry the Chicken
In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Fry the chicken pieces in batches until golden brown and cooked through, about 15-20 minutes. Drain on paper towels.
Buttermilk Biscuits
- 5
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
- 6
Make Biscuit Dough
In a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add buttermilk and stir until just combined.
- 7
Shape and Bake
Turn dough onto a floured surface and knead gently. Roll out to about 1 inch thick, cut into rounds, and place on a baking sheet. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden.
White Cheddar Gravy
