Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour and salt.

  3. 3

    Combine Ingredients

Add the frothy yeast mixture, melted butter, and eggs to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.

  4. 4

    Knead the Dough

Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  5. 5

    First Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Bun Formation and Baking

  1. 6

    Shape the Buns

Punch down the risen dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball and place on a greased baking sheet.

  2. 7

    Second Rise

Cover the buns with a cloth and let them rise for another 30 minutes.

  3. 8

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  4. 9

    Brown Butter

In a saucepan, melt the remaining butter over medium heat until it turns golden brown. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

  5. 10

    Bake the Buns

Brush the browned butter over the buns and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

Honey Butter and Sage Preparation

  1. 11

    Make Honey Butter

In a small bowl, combine the remaining butter and honey. Mix until smooth.

  2. 12

    Fry Sage Leaves

In a small skillet, heat a bit of oil over medium heat. Fry the sage leaves until crispy, about 1-2 minutes. Drain on paper towels.

Serving

  1. 13

    Serve

Serve the warm buns drizzled with honey butter and topped with crispy sage leaves.
