Salsa

Method

Tortilla Chips

  1. 1

    Prepare the Tortillas

Cut each corn tortilla into 6 wedges to form chips.

  2. 2

    Heat the Oil

In a large frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers.

  3. 3

    Fry the Chips

Carefully add the tortilla wedges to the hot oil in batches, frying for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Make sure not to overcrowd the pan.

  4. 4

    Drain and Season

Remove the chips from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain. While they're still hot, sprinkle with salt.

Salsa

  1. 5

    Chop the Vegetables

Dice the tomatoes and onion, and finely chop the cilantro and jalapeño pepper. Remove the seeds from the jalapeño for less heat, if desired.

  2. 6

    Mix the Ingredients

In a bowl, combine the chopped tomatoes, onion, cilantro, and jalapeño.

  3. 7

    Season the Salsa

Squeeze the juice of the lime over the mixture and add salt. Stir well to combine.

  4. 8

    Let it Rest

Let the salsa sit for at least 15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together before serving.
