Prepare the Glass
Take a lime wedge and run it around the rim of a chilled rocks glass. Dip the rim into salt to coat it lightly. Set the glass aside.

Mix the Ingredients
In a cocktail shaker, add 2 oz of tequila, 1 oz of fresh lime juice, 1 oz of triple sec, and 0.5 oz of simple syrup.

Add Ice and Shake
Fill the shaker with 1 cup of ice, secure the lid, and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds until well chilled.

Strain and Serve
Strain the mixture into the prepared rocks glass filled with fresh ice. Optionally, garnish with a lime wedge on the rim.
