Method

Crust Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Crust

In a large mixing bowl, combine 2.5 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 cup of unsalted butter cut into small pieces, 0.5 tablespoons of sugar, and 0.5 teaspoons of salt. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to blend the ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  2. 2

    Add Ice Water

Gradually add 6 tablespoons of ice water to the mixture, one tablespoon at a time, mixing gently until the dough comes together. Avoid overworking the dough.

  3. 3

    Chill the Dough

Form the dough into a disk, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

  4. 4

    Roll Out the Dough

After chilling, on a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to fit a 10-inch pie pan. Transfer it to the pan, trimming and crimping the edges as desired.

Filling Preparation

  1. 5

    Prepare the Filling

In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of corn syrup, 1 cup of brown sugar, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, 0.5 teaspoons of salt, and 3 large eggs. Whisk together until smooth and well combined.

  2. 6

    Add Pecans

Stir in 2 cups of pecans into the mixture until evenly distributed.

Baking

  1. 7

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 8

    Assemble the Pie

Pour the pecan filling into the prepared pie crust, spreading it evenly.

  3. 9

    Bake the Pie

Bake in the preheated oven for 60 to 70 minutes, or until the filling is set and the crust is golden brown. If the crust edges brown too quickly, cover them with foil.

  4. 10

    Cool and Serve

Once baked, remove the pie from the oven and allow it to cool on a wire rack for at least 2 hours before serving.
