Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Sauté the Vegetables

In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Once hot, add the diced onion, green bell pepper, and celery. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are softened.

  2. 2

    Add Garlic and Spices

Stir in the minced garlic, Cajun seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Cook for an additional 2 minutes until fragrant.

  3. 3

    Incorporate Crawfish and Liquids

Add the crawfish tails, chicken stock, diced tomatoes (with their juices), and bay leaves to the pot. Stir well to combine all ingredients.

  4. 4

    Simmer the Etouffee

Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat to low. Cover the pot and let it simmer for about 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  5. 5

    Finish and Serve

After simmering, stir in the Worcestershire sauce and adjust seasoning with additional salt and black pepper if needed. Remove bay leaves before serving. Serve the crawfish etouffee over cooked white rice.
