Method

Bread Pudding Directions

  1. 1

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 2

    Prepare Bread

Cut the day-old French bread into 1-inch cubes and place them in a large mixing bowl.

  3. 3

    Mix Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, heavy cream, sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.

  4. 4

    Combine Ingredients

Pour the wet mixture over the bread cubes, ensuring all pieces are soaked. Fold in the raisins and let it sit for about 15 minutes to absorb the liquid.

  5. 5

    Grease Baking Dish

Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with 2 tablespoons of butter.

  6. 6

    Bake Pudding

Transfer the soaked bread mixture to the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for about 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  7. 7

    Cool

Remove from oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes before serving.

Whiskey Sauce Directions

  1. 8

    Melt Butter

In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter.

  2. 9

    Combine Ingredients

Add the sugar, heavy cream, whiskey, and vanilla extract to the melted butter. Stir well to combine.

  3. 10

    Simmer Sauce

Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, stirring constantly until the sugar is fully dissolved and the sauce thickens slightly, about 5-7 minutes.

  4. 11

    Serve

Remove from heat and drizzle the warm whiskey sauce over the bread pudding before serving.
