Method

Burger Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Burgers

In a bowl, season the ground beef with salt and pepper. Form into 4 patties.

  2. 2

    Cook the Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until desired doneness.

  3. 3

    Melt the Cheese

In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of pepper jack cheese on each patty to melt.

Fried Onions Preparation

  1. 4

    Prepare the Onions

Slice the large onion into thin rings.

  2. 5

    Soak the Onions

Soak the onion rings in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes.

  3. 6

    Bread the Onions

In a separate bowl, mix flour, salt, and black pepper. Remove onion rings from buttermilk, coat in the flour mixture.

  4. 7

    Fry the Onions

Heat the oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C). Fry the onion rings until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes. Drain on paper towels.

Assembly

  1. 8

    Assemble the Burger

On the bottom half of each burger bun, place a patty with melted cheese, top with fried onions, jalapenos, and drizzle with house BBQ sauce. Cover with the top half of the bun.
