Preparation Instructions

  1. 1

    Heat the Milk

In a saucepan, heat the organic whole milk over medium heat until it reaches about 180°F (82°C). This helps to denature the proteins for a smoother yogurt.

  2. 2

    Cool the Milk

Remove the saucepan from heat and allow the milk to cool to about 110°F (43°C). You can use a kitchen thermometer to check the temperature.

  3. 3

    Add Starter Culture

In a small bowl, mix the organic plain yogurt with a few tablespoons of the cooled milk to create a smooth mixture. Then, gently stir this mixture back into the rest of the cooled milk.

  4. 4

    Incubate the Yogurt

Transfer the milk mixture to a clean container or yogurt maker. Keep the mixture at a constant temperature of about 110°F (43°C) for 6-12 hours. The longer it sits, the tangier it will become.

  5. 5

    Cool and Store

Once the yogurt has reached your desired tanginess, transfer it to the refrigerator to cool. It can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.
