Base Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Brew the Espresso

Brew 1 cup of strong espresso coffee and allow it to cool to room temperature. If desired, mix in the coffee liqueur.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Cream Mixture

In a large bowl, whisk together 4 egg yolks and 1 cup of granulated sugar until the mixture is pale and fluffy.

  3. 3

    Incorporate Mascarpone

Gently fold in 1 cup of mascarpone cheese into the egg yolk mixture until smooth and well combined.

  4. 4

    Whip the Cream

In a separate bowl, whip 1 cup of heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Carefully fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until combined.

Assembly

  1. 5

    Dip the Ladyfingers

Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the cooled espresso, making sure not to soak them too long to prevent them from becoming soggy.

  2. 6

    Layer the Ingredients

In a 9x9 inch dish, create a layer of dipped ladyfingers, followed by a layer of the mascarpone cream mixture. Repeat the process until all ingredients are used, ending with the mascarpone layer.

  3. 7

    Chill

Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.

Serving

  1. 8

    Dust with Cocoa Powder

Before serving, dust the top of the tiramisu with 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder for a finishing touch.

  2. 9

    Serve

Slice into squares and serve chilled. Enjoy your homemade tiramisu!
