Muddle the Sugar
In a rocks glass, place the sugar cube and add two dashes of Angostura bitters on top. Muddle them together using a muddler or the back of a spoon until the sugar is dissolved.

Fill the glass with 3 ice cubes, allowing the drink to chill and slightly dilute.

Garnish
Twist a strip of orange peel over the drink to release its oils, then drop the peel into the glass. Finally, add a maraschino cherry on top as a garnish.
