Method

Preparing the Shrimp

  1. 1

    Boil the Shrimp

In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil over high heat. Squeeze the juice of the halved lemon into the boiling water and then drop the lemon halves into the pot.

  2. 2

    Add Seasoning

Stir in the Old Bay seasoning to the boiling water.

  3. 3

    Cook the Shrimp

Add the peeled and deveined jumbo shrimp to the boiling water. Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until shrimp turn pink and are opaque.

  4. 4

    Ice Bath

Remove the shrimp from the pot and immediately plunge them into a bowl filled with ice and cold water to stop the cooking process. Let them cool for about 5 minutes.

  5. 5

    Drain and Chill

Once cooled, drain the shrimp and place them in the refrigerator to chill while you prepare the cocktail sauce.

Making the Cocktail Sauce

  1. 6

    Mix the Ingredients

In a medium bowl, combine 1 cup of ketchup, 2 tablespoons of prepared horseradish, 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, 1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce to taste.

  2. 7

    Stir Well

Mix all the ingredients together until well combined. Adjust the hot sauce to your desired level of spiciness.

  3. 8

    Serve

Transfer the cocktail sauce to a serving bowl and serve alongside the chilled shrimp.
