Preparation of Ingredients
- 1
Chop the Tomatoes
Wash the fresh tomatoes, remove the stems, and dice them into small cubes. Place them in a mixing bowl.
- 2
Chop the Basil
Wash the basil leaves, pat them dry, then stack them, roll them up, and slice thinly to create basil ribbons. Add to the bowl with tomatoes.
- 3
Mince the Garlic
Peel and finely mince the garlic cloves. Add the minced garlic to the bowl with tomatoes and basil.
- 4
Mix the Topping
Add balsamic vinegar, salt, and black pepper to the tomato, basil, and garlic mixture. Gently stir to combine and let it sit for at least 15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
Preparing the Bread
- 5
Slice the Baguette
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Cut the baguette into 1/2 inch thick slices on a diagonal.
- 6
Toast the Bread
Place the bread slices on a baking sheet. Brush both sides of the slices with olive oil. Bake in the preheated oven for about 5-7 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
Assembling the Bruschetta
- 7
Top the Toasts
Remove the toasted bread from the oven. Spoon the tomato and basil mixture generously over each slice of bread.
- 8
Serve Immediately
Drizzle with additional olive oil if desired and serve the bruschetta immediately while the bread is still warm.
