Make the Batter
In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix well until all dry ingredients are evenly distributed.

Add Buttermilk
Pour the buttermilk into the dry mixture and stir until just combined. The batter should be thick and slightly lumpy.

Dip each onion ring into the batter, ensuring they are fully coated. Allow excess batter to drip off before placing them on a plate.
