Cooking Instructions
- 1
Cook the Pasta
In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the elbow macaroni and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- 2
Make the Roux
In the same pot, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat. Once melted, add the flour and whisk continuously for about 2 minutes until the mixture is golden and bubbly.
- 3
Add Milk
Gradually add the whole milk to the roux, continuing to whisk to avoid lumps. Cook for about 5 minutes until the mixture thickens.
- 4
Add Cheeses
Remove the pot from heat and add the sharp cheddar cheese and cream cheese. Stir until the cheeses are fully melted and the sauce is smooth.
- 5
Incorporate Buffalo Sauce
Stir in the buffalo sauce, salt, and black pepper until fully combined. Adjust the seasoning to taste.
- 6
Combine Pasta and Sauce
Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce and stir well to coat all the pasta with the sauce.
- 7
Serve
Serve the gooey buffalo mac and cheese hot, garnished with additional buffalo sauce if desired.
