Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Remove the New York Strip steaks from the refrigerator and let them sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking. This ensures even cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Rub the steaks with olive oil, and season generously with kosher salt and black pepper on both sides. Press the seasonings into the meat for better adherence.

  3. 3

    Heat the Pan

In a large cast-iron skillet or heavy pan, heat on medium-high heat until hot. You can test the heat by sprinkling a few drops of water into the pan; they should sizzle and evaporate immediately.

  4. 4

    Sear the Steak

Add the seasoned steaks to the hot pan. Sear for about 4-5 minutes on one side until a golden-brown crust forms.

  5. 5

    Flip and Add Aromatics

Flip the steaks and add the crushed garlic cloves and fresh rosemary to the pan. Sear for an additional 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, or adjust time for desired doneness.

  6. 6

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steaks from the pan and let them rest on a cutting board for at least 5 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute.
