Method
Pizza Dough Preparation
- 1
Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes foamy.
- 2
Mix Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Create a well in the center and add the foamy yeast mixture and olive oil.
- 3
Knead Dough
Mix until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 4
Let Dough Rise
Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Pizza Assembly
- 5
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) or as high as your oven can go.
- 6
Prepare Sauce
Crush the San Marzano tomatoes by hand or with a fork, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
- 7
Roll Out Dough
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a 12-inch round.
- 8
Add Sauce and Cheese
Transfer the rolled-out dough to a pizza stone or baking sheet. Spread the crushed San Marzano tomatoes evenly over the dough. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese, followed by white cheddar, provolone, and gouda evenly on top.
- 9
Bake Pizza
Drizzle olive oil over the top and bake in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
- 10
Garnish and Serve
Once baked, remove the pizza from the oven and add fresh basil leaves on top. Slice and serve hot.
