Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation of Hummus

  1. 1

    Rinse Chickpeas

If using canned chickpeas, open the can, pour the chickpeas into a strainer, and rinse under cold water. If using cooked chickpeas, ensure they are cooled and ready to use.

  2. 2

    Blend Ingredients

In a food processor, add the rinsed chickpeas, tahini, garlic clove (peeled), lemon juice, olive oil, cumin, salt, and water.

  3. 3

    Process Until Smooth

Blend the mixture on high speed until it becomes smooth and creamy. If the hummus is too thick, add a little more water (1 tablespoon at a time) and blend again until desired consistency is reached.

  4. 4

    Taste and Adjust

Taste the hummus and adjust seasoning if necessary, adding more salt or lemon juice to suit your preference.

Serving

  1. 5

    Prepare Pita Chips

Cut pita bread into triangles or strips. Optionally, brush with olive oil and sprinkle with salt. Bake in an oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10-15 minutes or until crispy.

  2. 6

    Garnish Hummus

Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl, drizzle with olive oil, and sprinkle with paprika and chopped fresh parsley if desired.

  3. 7

    Serve

Serve the hummus with the warm pita chips on the side.
