Chicken and Marinade

Method

Marinating and Frying

1

Marinate the Chicken

In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Add the chicken pieces, ensuring they are fully submerged in the marinade. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.

2

Prepare for Frying

Remove the chicken from the marinade and let any excess buttermilk drip off. In a separate bowl, mix flour (if desired) with salt and pepper for dredging.

3

Fry the Chicken

Heat oil in a deep skillet or fryer to 350°F (175°C). Dredge the marinated chicken in the flour mixture (if using) and carefully place it in the hot oil. Fry until golden brown and cooked through, about 15-20 minutes, turning occasionally.

4

Drain and Serve

Once fried, remove the chicken from the oil and let it drain on paper towels. Serve hot with your choice of sides.
