Preparation Steps

1

Prepare Sushi Rice

Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Combine the rice and water in a rice cooker and cook according to the manufacturer's instructions. Once cooked, let it cool slightly.

2

Season the Rice

In a small bowl, mix the rice vinegar, sugar, and salt until dissolved. Pour this mixture over the warm rice and gently fold it in without mashing the rice.

3

Grill the Salmon

Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Season the salmon fillet with salt and pepper, then grill for about 5-7 minutes on each side or until cooked through. Let it cool before slicing.

4

Assemble the Sushi

Lay a nori sheet on a bamboo sushi mat. With wet hands, spread a thin layer of sushi rice over the nori, leaving a small border at the top. Place a few slices of grilled salmon, cucumber, and avocado in a line across the rice. Roll the sushi tightly away from you using the mat.

5

Slice and Serve

Using a sharp knife, slice the sushi roll into bite-sized pieces. Serve with soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger on the side.
