Prepare the Apples
Core and peel the apples, then cut them into chunks.

In a large pot, combine the apple chunks and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer. Cover and cook for about 20 minutes, or until the apples are tender.

Using a potato masher or fork, mash the apples to your desired consistency. For a chunkier texture, leave some larger pieces.
