Brewing Process

  1. 1

    Mashing

In a large mash tun, combine the Pale Malt, Caramel Malt, and Wheat Malt with 3 gallons of water. Heat to 152°F and hold for 60 minutes.

  2. 2

    Sparging

After mashing, sparge with enough water to collect 6 gallons of wort.

  3. 3

    Boiling

Bring the wort to a boil. Add Citra and Mosaic hops at the start of the boil and Simcoe hops with 15 minutes left in the boil. Boil for a total of 60 minutes.

  4. 4

    Cooling

Cool the wort quickly to 70°F using a wort chiller.

  5. 5

    Fermentation

Transfer the cooled wort to a fermentation vessel. Add the American Ale Yeast and ferment for 1-2 weeks at 68°F.

  6. 6

    Adding Flavor

After fermentation, add the blood orange zest and juice to the beer. Let it sit for an additional week.

  7. 7

    Bottling

Bottle the beer with priming sugar for carbonation. Let it carbonate for 2 weeks.
