Churro Dough

Method

Churro Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Dough

In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter, 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally.

  2. 2

    Add Flour

Once the mixture reaches a boil, remove it from heat and quickly stir in 1 cup of all-purpose flour until the mixture forms a ball. Allow it to cool for about 5 minutes.

  3. 3

    Incorporate Eggs

Add 2 large eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition until the dough is smooth and well combined.

Coating Preparation

  1. 4

    Mix Sugar and Cinnamon

In a shallow dish, combine 1 cup of granulated sugar and 2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon. Set aside for later use.

Frying Churros

  1. 5

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan or pot, heat 4 cups of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 6

    Pipe the Churros

Fill a piping bag fitted with a star tip with the churro dough. Once the oil is hot, carefully pipe strips of dough directly into the oil, cutting them to your desired length with scissors.

  3. 7

    Fry Until Golden

Fry the churros for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown. Remove them with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

  4. 8

    Coat in Cinnamon Sugar

While the churros are still warm, roll them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until they are fully coated.
