Fries

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and peel the Russet potatoes. Cut them into thin strips, approximately 1/4 inch thick.

  2. 2

    Soak the Potatoes

Place the cut potatoes in a bowl of cold water and soak for at least 30 minutes. This helps remove excess starch and makes the fries crispier.

  3. 3

    Dry the Potatoes

Drain the soaked potatoes and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel to remove excess moisture.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep fryer or large pot, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add a batch of the dried potato strips to the hot oil. Fry them for about 5-7 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Avoid overcrowding the pot.

  6. 6

    Drain and Season

Using a slotted spoon, remove the fries from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Season with salt, pepper, and paprika while they're still hot.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve the fries immediately while hot and crispy, with your favorite dipping sauce.
