Flan Ingredients

Method

Flan Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Caramel

In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the granulated sugar and water. Stir until the sugar dissolves, then stop stirring and allow it to cook until it turns a golden brown color. Quickly pour the caramel into a round baking dish, swirling the dish to coat the bottom evenly. Set aside to cool and harden.

  2. 2

    Mix the Flan Mixture

In a blender, combine the sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, eggs, and vanilla extract. Blend until smooth and well combined.

  3. 3

    Combine and Bake

Pour the flan mixture over the hardened caramel in the baking dish. Place the baking dish in a larger baking pan and fill the pan with hot water until it reaches halfway up the sides of the flan dish. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 50-60 minutes, or until set.

  4. 4

    Cool and Serve

Remove from the oven and allow to cool. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight. To serve, carefully invert the flan onto a serving plate, allowing the caramel to drizzle over the top.
