Cobbler Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Fruit Filling

In a large mixing bowl, combine the pitted cherries and sliced peaches. Add the granulated sugar, flour, lemon juice, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Toss gently until the fruit is evenly coated. Let it sit for about 15 minutes to macerate.

  2. 2

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  3. 3

    Transfer to Baking Dish

Pour the macerated fruit mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, spreading it evenly.

  4. 4

    Make the Cobbler Topping

In a separate bowl, mix together 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 1/2 cup of granulated sugar, 1/2 cup of milk, 1/4 cup of melted butter, and 1 tsp of baking powder until smooth.

  5. 5

    Assemble

Pour the cobbler topping over the fruit mixture in the baking dish. Do not stir; it will spread while baking.

  6. 6

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for about 40-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the fruit is bubbling.

  7. 7

    Serve

Let the cobbler cool for a few minutes. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.
