Churro Dough

Cinnamon Sugar Coating

Method

Churro Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Dough

In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter, 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat.

  2. 2

    Add Flour

Once the mixture is boiling, remove the saucepan from heat and quickly stir in 1 cup of all-purpose flour until the mixture forms a ball. Let it cool for about 5 minutes.

  3. 3

    Incorporate Eggs

Add 2 large eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition until the dough is smooth and glossy.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan, heat 2 cups of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

Frying Churros

  1. 5

    Pipe the Dough

Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Once the oil is hot, carefully pipe 4-6 inch long strips of dough into the hot oil.

  2. 6

    Fry the Churros

Fry the churros until they are golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side. Use a slotted spoon to remove them and drain on paper towels.

Cinnamon Sugar Coating

  1. 7

    Prepare the Cinnamon Sugar

In a bowl, combine 1 cup of granulated sugar with 2 tablespoons of ground cinnamon.

  2. 8

    Coat the Churros

While the churros are still warm, roll them in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated.

Chocolate Sauce Preparation

  1. 9

    Make the Sauce

In a small saucepan, heat 1 cup of heavy cream over medium heat until it just starts to simmer. Remove from heat and add 1 cup of semisweet chocolate chips and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Stir until smooth.
