Steak Marinade

Garnishes

Method

Steak Marinade

  1. 1

    Prepare the Marinade

In a bowl, combine lime juice, minced garlic, cumin, chili powder, olive oil, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until fully incorporated.

  2. 2

    Marinate the Steak

Place the flank steak in a resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the steak, ensuring it is well coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.

Cooking Rice

  1. 3

    Cook the Rice

In a medium saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the rice and toast it for about 2 minutes. Add water and salt, bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and cover. Cook for about 18-20 minutes or until the rice is tender and water is absorbed.

Cooking Beans

  1. 4

    Heat the Beans

In a small saucepan, combine the canned black beans, garlic powder, cumin, and salt. Heat over medium heat until warmed through, about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Grilling the Steak

  1. 5

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill to high heat.

  2. 6

    Grill the Steak

Remove the steak from the marinade and shake off any excess. Place it on the grill and cook for about 5-7 minutes per side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness. Let the steak rest for 5 minutes before slicing.

Serving

  1. 7

    Plate the Dish

Slice the steak against the grain. Serve the sliced steak alongside the cooked rice and black beans. Garnish with fresh cilantro and lime wedges.
