Steak Preparation
- 1
Season the Steak
Rub the ribeye steak with salt and black pepper on both sides. Let it sit at room temperature for about 15-20 minutes.
- 2
Cook the Steak
In a skillet over medium-high heat, add 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Once hot, place the steak in the skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, adjusting the time according to your preferred doneness.

Toppings

Sauté the Vegetables
In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of olive oil. Add the sliced onions and cook for about 2 minutes until they start to soften. Then add the sliced mushrooms and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until both are tender.
- 5
Melt the Cheese
After the vegetables are cooked, lower the heat and place the shredded cheese on top of the mushroom and onion mixture. Cover the skillet with a lid to allow the cheese to melt, about 2-3 minutes.
Sides Preparation
- 6
Prepare Rice
Cook the rice according to package instructions. Typically, this involves rinsing the rice, adding water at a ratio of 1:2, and simmering until the water is absorbed.
- 7
Heat Refried Beans
In a small saucepan, heat the refried beans over medium heat, stirring occasionally until warmed through.
- 8
Steam California Vegetables
In a steamer or microwave, steam the California vegetables until tender, about 5-7 minutes.
Assembly
- 9
Plate the Dish
On a serving plate, place a scoop of rice and a serving of refried beans. Top the cooked steak with the sautéed mushrooms and onions and melted cheese. Arrange the steamed California vegetables on the side.
