Method
Preparation
- 1
Measure and Cut Fabric
Use the measuring tape to measure out the necessary dimensions for an XSmall t-shirt. Typically, you will need approximately 18 inches in width and 24 inches in length. Cut the cotton fabric accordingly with fabric scissors.
- 2
Dye the Fabric
In a bucket or large bowl, mix the black dye with water according to package instructions. Submerge the cotton fabric in the dye solution and let it soak for 30 minutes. Rinse with cold water until the water runs clear.
Sewing
- 3
Sew the Sleeves
Take the cut fabric and fold it in half, wrong sides together. Pin the sleeves to the body of the t-shirt, ensuring they are aligned correctly. Sew along the armhole edges using a sewing machine.
- 4
Sew the Side Seams
With the t-shirt still inside out, sew along the side seams from the bottom of the sleeves to the hem. Ensure the fabric is aligned and pinned properly before sewing.
- 5
Hem the Bottom and Sleeves
Fold the bottom edge of the shirt and the sleeve edges inward by 0.5 inches and pin. Sew along the folded edges to create a hem.
- 6
Finish the Neckline
Cut a strip of fabric for the neckline, about 1.5 inches wide and long enough to go around the neck opening. Pin the strip to the neckline and sew it in place, folding it inward.
