Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Onions

In a medium skillet over medium heat, add a little oil and sauté the thinly sliced onions until they are caramelized and golden brown, about 10-12 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent burning.

  2. 2

    Form the Patty

While the onions are cooking, form the ground beef into a loose ball. Do not overwork the meat. Season with salt and pepper.

  3. 3

    Smash the Patty

Heat a grill or heavy skillet over high heat. Once hot, place the beef ball on the grill and smash it down with a spatula to about ½ inch thick. Cook for about 2-3 minutes until a crust forms.

  4. 4

    Add Cheese and Onions

Flip the patty and immediately place the slice of American cheese on top. Add the caramelized onions on top of the cheese and cover with a lid for another minute to melt the cheese.

  5. 5

    Assemble the Burger

Spread mustard on the bottom of the burger bun. Place the cheesy, onion-covered patty on top, followed by the sliced pickles. Top with the other half of the bun.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve the OK Smash burger hot with your choice of fries on the side.
