Ingredients for Smash Toastie & Fries

Method

Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Fries

Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F). Wash and cut the potatoes into fries. Toss them in a bowl with olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until they are well coated. Spread them out on a baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.

  2. 2

    Make the Smash Patty

While the fries are baking, form the ground beef into a loose ball. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add a splash of olive oil. Once hot, place the beef ball in the skillet and immediately smash it down with a spatula to form a patty. Season with salt and pepper and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side until browned and cooked through.

  3. 3

    Assemble the Toastie

In another skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Place two slices of bread in the skillet, top each with a generous portion of cheddar cheese, and then add the smash patty on top. Place the other two slices of bread on top to form sandwiches. Grill until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted, about 3-4 minutes on each side.

  4. 4

    Serve

Once the toasties are ready, cut them in half. Serve hot with the crispy fries on the side.
