Fries Ingredients

Method

Fries Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and peel the Russet potatoes. Cut them into evenly sized sticks, about 1/4 inch thick.

  2. 2

    Soak the Potatoes

Place the cut fries in a bowl of cold water and soak for at least 30 minutes. This helps to remove excess starch and makes the fries crispier.

  3. 3

    Dry the Potatoes

After soaking, drain the water and pat the fries dry using a clean kitchen towel or paper towels.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer to ensure the oil is at the right temperature for frying.

  5. 5

    Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add the fries to the hot oil in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 5-7 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove them from the oil.

  6. 6

    Drain and Season

Place the fried fries on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. While they are still hot, season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika to taste.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve the fries hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
