Method

Preparation of Seafood

  1. 1

    Prepare the Scallops

Clean the scallops thoroughly under cold water, removing any grit or sand. Pat them dry with a paper towel and cut them into small bite-sized pieces.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Shrimp

Peel and devein the shrimp. Rinse them under cold water and chop them into small pieces.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Octopus

If using fresh octopus, make sure to clean it thoroughly. Boil it in salted water for about 40 minutes until tender. Once cooled, chop it into bite-sized pieces. If using frozen octopus, thaw and chop it.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Calamari

Clean the calamari and slice it into rings. You can also cut it into small pieces if preferred.

Mixing Ingredients

  1. 5

    Combine Seafood

In a large bowl, combine the scallops, shrimp, octopus, and calamari.

  2. 6

    Add Vegetables

Finely chop the red onion and add it to the seafood mixture. Roughly chop the cilantro and add it as well.

  3. 7

    Season the Ceviche

Pour the lime juice over the seafood and vegetable mixture. Add salt and black pepper to taste. Mix well to ensure all ingredients are coated with lime juice.

Chilling and Serving

  1. 8

    Chill the Ceviche

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the seafood to marinate and 'cook' in the lime juice.

  2. 9

    Serve

Once chilled, serve the ceviche in small bowls or on a platter. Garnish with additional cilantro if desired.
